John Schindler has been the Director of Bands at Lakewood Ranch High School in Bradenton, Florida since 2021. At LRHS, he directs the Marching Mustangs, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band and LRHS Jazz Band. Mr. Schindler has been a full-time music educator since 2008 and has also taught at Manatee High School, Cape Coral High School, Boca Ciega High School, Bayshore High School, and LaBelle High School in Florida, as well as the Fostoria City Schools in Fostoria, Ohio. John has also performed as a percussionist with several professional and community groups in Ohio and Florida. He currently performs as a percussionist with the Pops Orchestra of Sarasota and Bradenton.
Mr. Schindler is a graduate of Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, OH (B.M. 2008). During his time at BGSU, John was a member of the Falcon Marching Band, Wind Symphony, Philharmonia and Percussion Ensemble. He studied percussion with Michael Sander and Dr. Roger Schupp, and instrumental music education with Dr. Kenneth Thompson, Dr. Bruce Moss, Dr. Carol Hayward, and Dr. Hubert Toney Jr.
Mr. Schindler has professional memberships that include the Florida Bandmasters Association, Florida Music Education Association, and the National Association for Music Education. John is a native of Avon, Ohio and graduate of Avon High School. He resides in Bradenton, FL with his wife Renee, who is on the color guard staff at Lakewood Ranch. John has a daughter, Cadence, as well as two cats.
